Hello,

This is my first English race report. Last year I did a similar report in Finnish to all my sponsors and the persons supporting me and my racing. In doing this, I hope I achieve letting you know how my races went very soon after the race is over. This also saves me some time since I don't have to write each one individually. If you don't wish to be on this list let me know and I will remove you. In the future I hope I manage to finish me web page and to have a separate news page with some images.

I've raced 3 races this year with changing success and luck. The first one was in Athens, GE in the end of May. The name was Cactus Cup Golden Pantry Twilight. The race consisted of three different stages. The first one was a time trial. I did well there considering I had a completely new bike, never ridden before. I finished 10th less than a minute from the winner Steve Tillford. This ment that I qualified for a fat tire criterium the same night in downtown Athens. I got to line up in front of 10,000 people on the front line. I did not do that well. The organizers didn't reinforce the rules they had set of having a minimum of 1,5 inch wide tires. I seemed to be one of the only one with regulation tires. Enough of blames. Roads don't suit me that good anyway.
Next day was time for cross-country. I was determined to do well and started fast. Unluckily I got caught up in another racers bar and we fell down. My bar broke in 3 pieces and first I was thinking that this was it. I held up to my nickname "The Finnisher" because somehow I got the crazy idea of getting back into the race. I asked the judge if he would allow me to race if I changed the handlebar. 25 minutes later I weirdly found my self back on the course with a downhill cockpit. I did well. I rode in the speed of the leaders, only a lap behind.
My second race was Friday the 14th of May. Now it was time for the first National race in Big Bear, CA. My bad luck continued. I was unfortunate to get such a severe back pain that I had to DNF (Did Not Finish). Better next time I hoped, and started concentrating on my back problem.

This coming up weekend I will be racing in 24 hours of Canaan in West-Virginia. Thereafter I'll do the 3rd National Cup in Pittsburgh, PA.
Stay tuned for more results!

Best Regards,

Thomas Nordstrom
